This weekend we celebrate the 74th Anniversary of the declaration by Pope Pius XI that Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini is named "Heavenly Patroness before God of all Emigrants.  The bishops of the United States and Canada petitioned that she be so named.  Here is the declaration, in Italian, which hangs in our narthex:

Looking around the Shrine, you may notice that almost everything, from statues to stained glass windows to the pews, has a plaque, big or small, dedicated to a benefactor or in honor of a loved one.  There is a new plaque at the Shrine honoring the memory of Dr. Len Cerullo, whose memorial Mass was held on August 8, celebrated by former Shrine rector Fr. Ted Ploplis.  As noted on the plaque, Dr. Cerullo was instrumental in the restoration of our Tambourini Organ, and also loved the Shrine and served here in many ways.

On the weekend of April 13-14, our new executive director, Laurie Halaska, was welcomed and blessed at both Masses.

The new movie "Cabrini" from Angel Studios (Sound of Freedom, The Chosen) opened on March 8, International Women's Day.

After a long run at the theatres, the movie is now availalbe on DVD.  Our gift shop has a good supply in stock.  Price:  $25.00

WBBM Interview with Shrine Rector, Fr. Ramil Fajardo.

The Shrine Outreach Committee is in the process of gathering resources to help the homeless and the many new immigrants find the help that already exists in our city in the areas of Legal Services, Medical Services, Education and more.  Bilingual flyers are now available for you to give to those in need whenever you see them.  We often ask "how can we help".  Hopefully this will be one of the ways.

Here is another way!  Help collect personal care/hygiene items to be distributed by Chicago Street Medicine.  Drop off your donations in the bins in the Shrine lobby. If you prefer to donate money with which we will purchase items:

Spiritual Center & Architectural Masterpiece in the Heart of Lincoln Park

Historically, this site was home to Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini, a missionary woman religious, who helped shape America's social and health care system in the early twentieth century.

Spiritually, it is the only National Shrine dedicated to the first American Citizen Saint and the Patron of Immigrants and Heath Care Workers in the Catholic Church.

Architecturally, the Shrine's Chapel is the masterpiece of world-renowned architect, Leonard Gliatto, who felt that this was his crowning achievement in America.
