CHRISTMAS AT THE SHRINE
CHRISTMAS APPEAL
Christmas 2024
Reflections and Challenges
We invite you to read the Christmas appeal from our Executive Director, Laurie Halaska, and our Director of Development, Barb Willis. The letter and a Christmas prayer request card have been mailed.
In this letter, you will hear about:
- The thousands of pilgrims and visitors who were welcomed to the Shrine in 2024
- The need for Restoration and Maintenance of our historic landmark
- The expansion of programs focused on educating our youth about Mother Cabrini
- An increase in the number and scope of Community Outreach programs in the spirit of Mother Cabrini
- An upgrade in technology for our website and chapel sound system
Nothing can be done without the support of our Shrine friends and benefactors, and we are eternally grateful for each and every one of you.
After reading the letter, if you would like to make a donation, click “Christmas”. It is with our deepest gratitude that we thank you.
Make your tax-deductible gift before the end of the year!

THANK YOU to all our generous sponsors, supporters, and our Benefit Event attendees! We couldn’t have done this without you! Our hearts are full of love and gratitude. Scenes from the Benefit are shown below.
SAINT FRANCES XAVIER CABRINI FEAST DAY
The feast day of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini is November 13. Mass will be celebrated at 6 PM with the Most Reverend Daniel Turley, O.S.A, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Chulucanas in Peru, presiding. Music will be provided by the Vox Fideles Choir under the direction of conductor and composer Kevin Allen. A reception will follow the Mass.
We will again have a limited number of times available to pray with Sister Laura Baldini, MSC, inside our replica of Mother Cabrini's bedroom in Columbus Hospital, which contains the chair in which she died, her statue of Baby Jesus, and many items she used in her daily life. To reserve a time, click on the picture or scan the code.
Additional valet only parking for the Mass has been secured. Pull up to the entrance of the 2550 condo building to access this service. The parking is available from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm, and a limited number of spots are available.
NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR THE SHRINE ANNOUNCED

NEW HELP PAGE FOR IMMIGRANTS AND HOMELESS
The Shrine Outreach Committee is in the process of gathering resources to help the homeless and the many new immigrants find the help that already exists in our city in the areas of Legal Services, Medical Services, Education and more. Bilingual flyers are now available for you to give to those in need whenever you see them. We often ask "how can we help". Hopefully this will be one of the ways.
Here is another way! Help collect personal care/hygiene items to be distributed by Chicago Street Medicine. Drop off your donations in the bins in the Shrine lobby. If you prefer to donate money with which we will purchase items:

Spiritual Center & Architectural Masterpiece in the Heart of Lincoln Park
Historically, this site was home to Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini, a missionary woman religious, who helped shape America's social and health care system in the early twentieth century.
Spiritually, it is the only National Shrine dedicated to the first American Citizen Saint and the Patron of Immigrants and Heath Care Workers in the Catholic Church.
Architecturally, the Shrine's Chapel is the masterpiece of world-renowned architect, Leonard Gliatto, who felt that this was his crowning achievement in America.
